There was a very beautiful forest where many animals lived. Among those animals, there was also an imitator monkey who used to try to compare himself with all the animals. There was only one monkey in this forest. Because of this, he was not happy with his life. He would start his day by jumping in the trees every day, but as soon as he saw any animal, he would start trying to become like it. He always seemed to be lacking within himself.
One day the monkey was sitting on the bank of the pond. At the same time, he saw a turtle going inside the pond. The monkey felt that, just as the tortoise walked slowly and swam in the water, he too could do the same and then, in the next moment, he slowly slipped and fell inside the pond.
After falling into the pond, he started having trouble swimming. Somehow, he escaped from the swamp of the pond and came out, but this incident frightened the monkey from within. All the animals in the forest have different characteristics but the monkey, unaware of his abilities, was searching for his abilities in the outside world.
After failing everywhere, the monkey started feeling that he should go somewhere else so that he could reach his full potential in life. The next morning, without saying anything to anyone, he set out to go out of the forest. As soon as he reached a little distance, he saw a fire burning on a mountain. The fire was very close. The monkey thought that perhaps some animal might be there looking for help, so he reached for the fire with the help of trees. As the monkey approached the fire, he saw a bird crying. She was pleading for the help of her children but none of the animals dared to cross the blazing fire.
Then the monkey reached the bird while hanging on the tree and said to it, “I had heard that if the bird can fly in the air, then why are your children not able to fly?” The bird said to the monkey, “My children are still small.” He cannot fly and I too am not able to take him to another place.” As soon as he heard about the bird’s problem, the monkey agreed to help him. With a strong jump, he reached the same tree where small baby birds were present in a nest.
The monkey picked up both the children in his hands and brought them to the bird. Seeing her children safe, the bird became happy and thanked the monkey and said, “I had requested all the animals of this forest to save my children but, no one showed courage but, you have the best powers. Who, even in such a terrible fire, did not let anything happen to my children. The monkey was happy to hear his praise from the bird.
In fact, to date, no one had even talked to the monkey in the forest. The monkey had started feeling that, “There is nothing special in him” but, on this occasion, the monkey had proved his bravery and his usefulness in the jungle, and now he realized that, he needed to become like someone. Rather, it is to improve oneself. Then, he decided that he would never leave this forest. He will always help the animals and creatures living here and with this, this story ends.
